Petalilli African Infusions

Since 2012, in Zimbabwe

Blending traditions.

Petalilli crafts exquisite herbal infusions using a blend of African, Eastern and Western traditions.

Working closely with wild-harvesters in communities across Zimbabwe, we source traditional indigenous plants and blend them with Western herbs and Asian spices.

Unlike most commercially available tea brands, which use heat-dried herbs, our ingredients are harvested and dried under the Zimbabwean sun — a slower, more natural process which leaves higher concentrations of flavourful compounds. That’s one reason why they taste so good.

Our ingredients are all grown using natural farming methods, and all of our community out-growers are certified organic — although Petalilli itself is not. We’re proud to say that no fertilisers, pesticides or chemicals have been used on our fields since we started growing, thirteen years ago.

The final reason our teas are so flavourful is that we control the entire process: growing, harvesting, drying, and finally packing.

“Compost is more valuable than gold.”

We make no apology for believing it. We use traditional composting techniques alongside vermicompost and liquid manures made with comfrey, nettle, amaranth, blackjacks and yarrow. We want to leave the soil richer than we found it.

Right down to the box

Plastic-free,
all the way down.

Our tea bag paper is plastic-free, our packets are made from plant cellulose, and our boxes are biodegradable. In everything we do we try to leave the world cleaner and healthier than we found it.
